Impulsing Paradigm Change through Disruptive Technologies (ImPACT) program.

Since the academic year of 2015, as part of the program called Impulsing Paradigm Change through disruptive Technologies (ImPACT), organized by the cabinet office of the government, we have been developing a research focusing on the theme of pattern recognition technology towards measured cells in serendipity.

This program aims to develop a machine that can find rare cells with great impacts on, from more than a trillion cells, at super-high speed but in precise and minimally invasive way. It can also analyze the rare cells once they are detected.
The group leaded by Prof. Norimichi Tsumura hold many research achievements in coresearch between optical measurement system & image processing technology. We optimize the high-speed detection of rare cells through the cooperation between the measurement system and the image processing system. We make most of our strength of medical engineering cooperation, and through collaborating with MD researchers who actually utilize flow cytometry, we aim to achieve the early stage prototyping.
