Abstract
Many quality criteria have been proposed
and used for image evalauation. Image quality,
however, is dependent on the scene content
in subjective evaluation. Eye movements provide
useful information in the analysis of subjective
evaluation. In this papaer, eye movement
is measured and analyzed, and it is shown
that the images have particular gazing area
which is not dependent on observers. Relationship between gazing area and image
quality are analyzed. It is also described that the applications
of gazing area to image compression and transmission
